Informotrac for development agencies
The local partners participating in the Informotrac network are eager to work with others who believe community radio can make a difference. They seek partnerships with NGOs and international donors that share their goals and want to communicate with a wider audience in the fields of:
- Health
- Education
- Peace building and conflict prevention
- Local governance
- Community-based natural resource management
- Water and sanitation
- Etc
Each Informotrac training centre has an up-to-date studio and a team of experts who can produce programmes with your organisation. Informotrac’s local partners can also implement projects in the field of community media and communication for social change. Informotrac can also organise and record public meetings at which NGOs can put their message across and get people involved in their projects.
Regional network
With the Informotrac programme already working in six African countries, the network is a genuinely regional initiative. Informotrac is a natural partner for international donors interested in a regional approach towards community media in West and Central Africa.
The power of community radio
Community radio stations serve rural and urban communities with programmes in local languages that respect local culture and local traditions. At the same time, community radio empowers and educates local people.
Empowerment comes from the fact that community radio gives local people their own voice. It allows them to set their own agenda and make programmes relevant to their own community. And it encourages them to find their own solutions to the challenges they face - such as AIDS, poverty and conflict.
Community radio is an effective way of providing information on issues such as health, water management and sanitation. It also stimulates people to take responsibility for their own environment.
