eLearning
At the end of 2006, Informotrac started implementing e-Learning courses at the training centres in Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Senegal.
The e-Learning course Managing Community Media focus on improving the sustainability of community media by introducing management skills and practices for analysing, planning, organising, directing and monitoring change in community media.
The aim of the e-Learning course Radio for Community Development is to strengthen the capacity of community radio stations to promote community development by increasing public involvement in station operations.
In November 2006 the e-Learning course Radio for Community Development was offered to Radio Quelelé in Bissau and to Radio Afia FM in Grand Yoff, Senegal in April 2007.
In December 2006 the e-Learning course Managing Community Media was offered for 12 community radio stations in Makeni in the northern part of Sierra Leone.
Both e-Learning courses are developed by RNTC. The courses are made available through RNTC’s Online Learning Environment on the internet. Local Informotrac trainers will implement the courses in a face-to-face setting, coached by an RNTC e-Learning officer.
This implementation model enables trainers and participants to benefit from the advantages of online training while limiting the need for computers with internet connection and online learning experience.
